Can't remove a desktop item from the desktop

problem:
When you was on a website and You wanted to save a picture to your desktop. You forgot hit "save as desktop item". now You have a picture covering most of my screen. when You right click, the window for the desktop opens with no option to delete.

solve:
If this is the background of your desktop then to change that just go right-click on the screen, select properties and then the "Desktop" tab and select whatever background you want for the wallpaper as most call it. You could also access that properties page by selecting Display in the Control Panel. or you need to delet it from your pictures (if save it there) or just change it as you know now.

solve:
Take a screen shot (minimize all your windows and use the print screen button), then upload that to a free photo hosting site like photobucket.com. Then post the URL here.
Click Start> control panel> performance and maintenance. In the upper left theres a system restore link, click there. A window will pop-up, select "restore my computer to an earlier time" and click next. Now select a day BEFORE you downloaded this "applet, icon, picture" whatever it is and click next. System will reboot and hopefully problem will be solve

If its win98 you probably have active desktop.
